Among legends, oral traditions, traditional customs, etc. there are many topics which we cannot scientifically conclude whether they are the superstition or not. In our modern age such phenomena as UFO, telepathy, clairvoiance, remote viewing, in general ESP, spiritual photograph, psychokinesis, chi-kung (Chinese art of healing as well as grapple), spiritual healing, spoon bending, etc. are the favourable points at issue. The Fukurai Institute of Psychology is the group of members who neither negate them exclusively, nor worship eagerly and result in the unhappy life, but research them with impartial attitude upon the scientific and critical point of view. This Institute has been established in 1960 at Sendai in memory of world-historically valuable achievement by Dr. Tomokichi Fukurai who developed Japanese system of hypnotic psychology and further discovered first the fact of thoughtography ("nengraphy"), i.e. the phenomena that the notion of a special medium produce the sensitization on the dry-plate.
 　Dr.Fukurai graduated the Second High School at Sendai, and had close friendship with Bansui Doi, the most famous poet in Japan, and also with Dr. Kiyoshi Shiga, a man of the Order of Cultural Merits in their last years.
 　Dr. Fukurai had been appointed as the associate professor at Tokyo University and thereafter as the professor at Koyasan University. His career was the hard walking on the path as the pioneer of parapsychology in Japan. In 1967 his achievement on hypnotic psychology was reported and authorized officially at the Japanese Association of Medicine and Hypnotic Psychology, held at Sendai.
 　The thoughtography of the far side of the moon which Dr.Fukurai successed to make up in the experiment using the medium, Mr. Koichi Mita was introduced in the "Almanac of the Uncanny" by Reader's Digest Pty Limited, what may be the proof of social and international acknowledgement to Dr.Fukurai's exploration.　The regular meeting is opened on the second saturday of odd month, at 2 p.m. It consists of the report of study, the lecture, the demonstration, the discussion, etc.

   The director of institute is Mr. Shouzou Fukurai ,who is son‐in‐law of Dr.Tomokichi Fukurai. The research director of institute is Mr. Koji Sasaki, the inventor of the PK sensor. And the former director is Dr. Masasuke Kuroda, Emeritus Professor of Tohoku University. Their policy is the management of studies, thinking highly of both personal resources scientists and men of spiritual power. He has recently advocated to reevaluate Dr. Fukurai's three principles for parapsychological studies, ie. (1)The acceptance to the reality of supernatural power, (2)The humanistic mind, and (3)The wisdom based on authentic philosophy.
